Mike Berg, Senior Mortgage Banker

Mike grew up in western Wisconsin with two younger sisters.   As you would expect being from the Midwest, Mike grew up playing most every sport and taking advantage of the extreme winter weather where he would snow mobile every chance he could get as the annual snow fall was 5+ feet.  Mike attended University of Wisconsin, La Crosse where his focus was in Business Finance. 

His initial career started out in Business Management – eventually ending up as The Director of Operations for a private organization.   It was during this time Mike most enjoyed working with the staff, various contractors and their customers.   He knew this was not going to be his end destination as his passion was in finance and somehow he wanted to incorporate this – all while hopefully along the way working and helping people.   By chance in 2002, Mike’s Father-in-Law was in the Mortgage Banking business and had presented an opportunity.  Mike was intrigued and after a few interviews decided  it was time to switch career paths.  By 2007 Mike had been promoted to Assistant Vice President – At the time he was working for a Nationwide lender which ended up relocating Mike and his wife to Oregon in July 2007.

Mike quickly fell in love with the Pacific NW where in the summer you will find he and his wife spending time running their two labs along the various rivers, camping, biking, hiking and playing golf – and in the winter Mike enjoys getting back to the snow for a snow mobile trip or two. 

Mike has become a leading mortgage consultant in the industry – with over a thousand home loan closings.  Mike continues to aid his clients with Conventional, FHA, VA, USDA, Jumbo and various forms of specialized lending such as Construction financing.  His professionalism and ability to create relationships; not only with his clients but everyone involved in the transaction is what sets him apart from the rest.  This must have something to do with Mike’s Midwestern up-bringing. 

For the past three years, Mike has worked closely with many of the members of the Sunset Mortgage Group Team and continues to play a huge role in their growth – aiding them to help manage their clients and realtor/builder based relationships. Mike is a registered loan officer through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and has the ability to lend in all fifty states.
